Round My Way

from Ghosts by Bird Streets

/

about

A political song? You decide. This was a standard you-done-me-wrong song until I found a different angle, thanks to a certain cable "news" channel. Drums were tracked at my friend Brett's studio in Albany; the rest was done in my apartment in Manhattan over a period of a few years. Features some drum overdubs from an old Yamaha keyboard I found on the street outside my rehearsal studio.

lyrics

It’s a game that you can’t lose
Playing with numbers
Act like you make the rules
Your every aim is so untrue
Throwing up static
Can’t take my eyes off you

I’m not amused
By the smoke and the mirrors
My defenses arm whenever you get near

There is grace to what you do
Something magnetic
In making us all look like fools
Do you get off being cruel
Somebody might think so
Still I watch you like the news

I’m not confused
By your facts and your figures
Gonna say it loud so everyone can hear

I can’t believe the things you say
Don’t come calling round my way
I’m trying to keep a straight face
I’m trying to keep a straight face

I can’t believe the things you say
Don’t come calling round my way
I’m trying to keep a straight face
I’m trying to keep a straight face

Don’t come calling round my way
I’m trying to keep a straight face
Don’t come calling round my way
I’m trying to keep a straight face
Don’t come calling round my way
I’m trying to keep a straight face
Oh I’m trying to keep a straight face
