Are We?

about

The simplest lyric I ever wrote, yet it says so much. The original recording of this song was intended for an album by my old band Maggie Mayday, which was never completed. I'm ok with that because this version has way more vibe. Drums were tracked at my friend Brett's studio in Albany sometime; the rest was done in my old apartment in Manhattan.

lyrics

You say one thing, mean another
You say one thing, mean another, don’t you
You say one thing, mean another

Are we or aren’t we?
Are we or aren’t we?
Are we or aren’t we?
And if we aren’t
Why aren’t we?

You say one thing, mean another
You say one thing, mean another, don’t you
You say one thing, mean another
You say anything that comes into your head
And I don’t understand what you just said

Are we or aren’t we?
Are we or aren’t we?
Are we or aren’t we?
And if we aren’t
What are we?

Are we or aren’t we?
Are we or aren’t we?
Are we or aren’t we?
And if we aren’t
We aren’t
Oh, we aren’t

Are we or aren’t we?
